An exam tool, not an endless course

Everything you need to pass — aimed at a date, not sold as a subscription for life.

📝

AI feedback on writing

A score and concrete feedback against the real exam criteria — where you lose points and how to win them back. The first correction is free.

🔤

Grammar & vocabulary

Theory and exercises for every topic. Vocabulary cards with picture and sound, article, plural and verb forms — with exercises in short sessions, all offline.

🎙️

AI feedback on speaking

No speaking exam is taken alone — so the app supplies the partner. Speak your part, hold the dialogue, and be assessed against the same criteria. Pace, pauses and fillers are measured on your device.

🎧

Listening, played like the exam

Recordings in the real exam parts, played exactly as often as the paper plays them. Some parts twice, some once, with the reading time printed before each. Afterwards you get the transcript.

📖

Reading in exam format

Reading comprehension in the real exam parts — practise part by part, or against the clock in exam mode.

🎯

Exam readiness

A date, a countdown and a plan for the day — in the final week the app switches to full exam simulation.

🔔

A reminder that doesn’t nag

One message a day, and only on the days you haven’t practised yet. It counts down to your exam — and stays quiet once you’ve done your bit.

✍️

Scan your handwriting

In the exam you write by hand. Photograph your text, Rilke reads it and grades it like any other task. On a Mac you pick the photo of the page — the same feedback as for typed text.

🌍

In your language

Explanations and feedback in your language — the app speaks 22 of them, while the exam stays German.

What it looks like

A short video and eight screens from the app — the assessment, the speaking partner, the countdown and the part that stays offline and free.

Video: Rilke in 30 seconds
Your text, graded like the exam — A score out of 100, the four criteria, every mistake explained.
Every speaking exam has a partner. So does this one. — Speak your part, hold the dialogue, and be graded on the exam criteria.
54 days left. A plan for each of them. — Name the date and everything aims at it.
Three institutes, A1 to C1 — Tasks in the format of the exam you are actually sitting.
Everything offline. Everything free. — Four modules that need no connection and cost nothing.
Played as often as the exam plays it. No more. — Some parts twice, some once — with the reading time the paper gives you.
Not a grade — a correction — What went wrong, why, and the sentence that puts it right.

Frequently asked

What people want to know before downloading.

Is Rilke free?

Grammar, reading, listening, vocabulary and the writing editor are entirely free and work offline. Only the AI feedback for writing and speaking costs money, and the first correction is free — so is the first speaking dialogue. Having your own sentences checked in Wortschatz costs nothing — an ad runs after each check, and Plus turns those off.

Which exams does Rilke prepare for?

Goethe-Zertifikat, telc and ÖSD at A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 (listening up to B2 for now). The tasks follow the format of the exam you are actually sitting.

Do I need an account?

No. The app runs without sign-up. You only sign in to carry your progress to a second device or to use the free correction.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, apart from the AI feedback. Listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary need no connection — cards and exercises alike, bar one: “write a sentence with this word” is AI feedback and works online only. Practise writing or speaking offline and the task is queued, then graded as soon as you are back online — you get a notification when it lands.

How is my text graded?

Against the four exam criteria, with a score out of 100, a reason for each criterion and the concrete mistakes with their corrections — not just a grade.

How many times is a listening text played?

As often as the real exam plays it, and no more. It is fixed per exam part: some parts are played twice, some once, and each is preceded by the reading time printed on the paper. After you hand in you get the transcript and can find the sentence you missed.

Can I practise speaking on my own?

Yes. Every speaking exam is held in pairs or in a group, so the app takes the partner's role: you speak your part, hold the dialogue, and get an assessment against the exam criteria. Pace, pauses and filler words are measured on your device.
